Dr. Madelena Rizzo

I graduated from Drexel University's JD/PhD dual degree program in 2023. As both a member of the PA Bar and a licensed psychologist in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, I have experience providing therapeutic care to many different populations. Over three internal practica, three external practica, and an APA-accredited internship, I have been exposed to diverse communities, from community mental health with low-income and minority populations in Philadelphia and Chester Counties, to individuals recently released from federal prison after decades-long sentences. Three years ago, I completed my practicum at Fairmount Behavioral Health System, where I worked on both adult and adolescent inpatient units. Whether during treatment team meetings or while consulting with another provider on the unit, I came to appreciate the importance of comprehensive care. During my internship at Holcomb, I maintained an outpatient caseload while also cycling through three different rotations: Intensive Behavioral Health Services in Philadelphia public high schools; Crisis Intervention, consisting of a crisis call center and residential program; and a substance abuse program.

I am comfortable working with adults experiencing a wide range of clinical presentations, from anxiety and depression to personality disorders and psychotic symptoms. I also have experience working with chronic illness and substance use recovery. Whether you have been through multiple iterations of therapy in the past and are looking for a new experience, or you have never been in therapy before, I look forward to connecting to see if it would be a good fit.
